# TRIP 3: LAKOTA TERRITORY TOUR
WITH HORSE-RIDING June,

culture of the Lakota. Tipi stay and riding beautiful

Discover the world of the Lakota Sioux people through
their lands, culture and history. Experience life
in the environment of the northern Great Plains, and
ride the prairie on Lakota paint horses. Visit the
sacred sites, historical locations and modern towns
that are home to one of the most fascinating cultures
in North America.
For a fortnight you will live amongst the Lakota
on and around their Reservations in South Dakota,
with activities that include a night under the stars
in a tipi, horse riding under the tutelage of Lakota
horse-breeder White Thunder, watching exhilarating
dance displays at a powwow, and visits to see paint
horses, bison and mustangs. The excursion will also
take you to see beautiful places such as the Black
Hills and the Badlands National Park, and important
locales like Wounded Knee and the Crazy Horse Monument,
guided by anthropologist Francesc Nolla.
This trip promises to be a wonderful journey into
a Native American culture that has both a past and
a future, and brings you into contact with many aspects
of the Lakota way of life, both traditional and modern,
with the added bonus of two days of horse riding on
the plains.
